During the Lunar New Year, a pair of mandarin oranges are exchanged among friends and relatives for good luck. The Chinese word for mandarin oranges sounds like the Chinese word for wealth. Therefore, it is considered an auspicious fruit. Sounds superstitious but this tradition is here to stay. I am all for it if wealth really drops by, .all is good, plus the fruit is tasty.
