Today, I am deeply grateful for the gift of true friendship, the kind that stands the test of time, distance, and change. I spent a lovely day out with my two dearest friends, SA and SC, and it reminded me how precious long-lasting connections are.
SA and I have known each other for forty years, since our primary school days. It feels incredible to think how we’ve grown from little girls in school uniforms to the women we are today. SC joined us thirty years ago, during our university days, when our paths crossed through church activities. The three of us have walked through so many stages of life together — studies, careers, love, losses, laughter, and everything in between.
We started the day with breakfast, continued with lunch, and ended up shopping and chatting about everything under the sky. It felt so natural, as if time had never passed. There was something beautifully nostalgic about walking through Orchard again. It brought back fond memories of my younger days, when SA and I would meet at Orchard MRT and spend the entire day window shopping, laughing, and talking about dreams, school life, and the future that seemed so far away then.
Now, decades later, we still do the same, only with deeper conversations, more wisdom, and a quiet understanding that comes from years of shared experiences. We have seen each other through joy and hardship, offered advice, listened without judgment, and celebrated each other’s milestones.
True friends are rare. They are the anchors who remind us who we are and where we came from. I am grateful beyond words that our bond has remained strong through all these years.
Today’s outing was not just a day of laughter and good food, but a reminder that friendship is one of life’s greatest blessings. It is comforting to know that no matter where life takes us, some things, like genuine love and connection, never fade.
To my dear SA and SC, thank you for being part of my journey for so many decades. Here’s to more breakfasts, lunches, and long walks together, just like the old days.
