20 Nov 2025 – Grateful for Finding Sleep Through Breath

Last night, I experienced a wave of anxiety that left me feeling restless and unable to sleep. My mind was uneasy, my body felt tense, and I could sense the familiar signs of insomnia beginning to surface. In the past, this would have led to hours of tossing and turning.

But this time, I turned to something simple yet powerful. I closed my eyes, placed one hand on my belly, and began deep, slow breaths. Long inhalations, longer exhalations. A few rounds later, I felt my body soften. My heart slowed, my thoughts quietened, and before I knew it, I drifted into sleep within seconds.

Today, I am grateful for the gift of breath. I am grateful for my yoga practice and for my yoga master who taught me how to breathe properly. Through yoga, I have learned different types of breathing techniques for different purposes, to calm the mind, energise the body, relieve stress, or prepare for meditation.

It amazes me how something so simple and natural can be such a powerful tool for healing and balance. Breath is always with me, always accessible, and always ready to guide me back to peace.

Last night’s rest was not just sleep. It was a reminder of how far I have come in my practice, and how much wisdom my teacher has shared with me. For that, I am deeply thankful.

Grateful for breath. Grateful for rest. Grateful for the gentle practices that keep me grounded and whole. 🌿💛
