Today, I had the immense honour of witnessing Master Fan Shao Hua paint live at VOA5 Roots and Wings, an experience I will treasure for a long time.
He created three exquisite lotus paintings in traditional Chinese ink, each stroke executed with incredible mastery, precision, and calm focus. His hands were steady, his spirit unwavering. Watching him work felt like watching poetry unfold, fluid, intentional, and full of life.
What touched me even more was his generosity in sharing his wisdom. He spoke about his approach, his inspiration, and the philosophy behind his art. Every word carried the depth of someone who has devoted his life to the craft.
I was deeply honoured when he wrote my name in his limited edition coffee table book, signing it with the most graceful and elegant Chinese calligraphy, a true artwork on its own.
After the demo, we sat together for coffee with a few artists. Master Fan treated us to snacks, chatting with a warmth and humility that made me admire him even more. For someone of his stature to be so kind, open, and generous is truly inspiring.
I am filled with gratitude to have experienced his artistry up close and to have met such a great master with a humble heart.
Thank you, Master Fan Shao Hua, for your artistry, your spirit, and your generosity.
