1 Jan 2026 – Grateful for a Gentle Beginning to 2026

I woke up to the first morning of 2026 feeling calm and thankful. It was made even more special by starting the day with my husband, who lovingly prepared a simple and comforting breakfast of ham and cheese sandwiches. A quiet meal together at home felt like the perfect way to ease into the new year.

Later in the morning, we headed out for a refreshing walk at Upper Pierce Reservoir. We explored a new path in the park, breathing in the fresh air and letting nature ground us. The morning was cool, with a gentle breeze that made the walk especially pleasant. Being surrounded by greenery and stillness on the first day of the year felt deeply nourishing.

After the walk, we stopped for a nice coffee at Hans nearby, enjoying a moment of rest and reflection before the day unfolded further. There was no rush, just presence and appreciation for the simple joys.

Starting the new year in nature, moving our bodies, breathing deeply, and sharing these moments together felt like a quiet blessing. I’m grateful for this gentle beginning to 2026, and for the reminder that the best starts are often the simplest ones.
