13 Jan 2026 – Gratitude for Deepening My Yoga Journey

Today, I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn more about yoga therapy through my yoga therapy course. I chose to embark on this path to complement my yoga instructor training, with the intention of becoming a more effective, informed, and compassionate teacher. More importantly, I wanted to better understand my own body and mind, and to one day help others in a more meaningful and holistic way.

Through my recent conversations with my therapist, I found myself reflecting on how undervalued alternative healing systems such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine often are in the modern world. In today’s fast paced society, modern medicine tends to focus on fixing symptoms quickly. While it is incredibly powerful and life saving in many situations, it sometimes addresses the problem at the surface level, and in doing so, can create other side effects along the way.

What resonates deeply with me about Ayurveda, TCM, and yoga therapy is their emphasis on treating the root cause rather than just suppressing symptoms. These traditional systems work methodically, using natural methods, herbs, movement, breath, and lifestyle adjustments to restore balance in the body. They are not instant fixes, and they require patience, awareness, and commitment. But in doing so, they aim to heal gently, sustainably, and without causing harm elsewhere in the system.

A core belief shared by these traditional healing practices is that balance is the foundation of good health. The body is not working against us, it is always trying to protect us, communicate with us, and guide us back to equilibrium. Symptoms are not enemies, but signals asking us to pay attention, slow down, and make adjustments.

I am grateful to be learning this way of seeing health, not as something to battle or control, but as a relationship to nurture and understand. This journey has reaffirmed my belief that true healing takes time, listening, and respect for the wisdom of the body. As I continue this path, I hope to integrate these learnings into my own life and future teaching, with humility, patience, and care.
