My besties came to visit my solo exhibition, Art Over Coffee, at Canopy Esplanade. Seeing them walk into the café, smiling, curious, ready to explore my paintings, meant more to me than they probably realise.
There is something very vulnerable about putting your art on the wall. A painting is not just paint. It is time. It is doubt. It is persistence. It is parts of your inner world made visible. To have the people who know you best stand in front of your work and really look at it feels deeply personal.
We had tea. We talked. We laughed. We walked from painting to painting. They asked questions, noticed details, shared their interpretations. Some stood quietly in front of certain pieces a little longer. Those moments were precious.
I realised that an exhibition is not only about selling art. It is about connection.
Sitting there at Canopy, surrounded by my own paintings hanging on the walls, having warm conversations with friends who have seen my journey through different seasons of life, felt surreal. They have known me before the full time artist dream. They have seen the struggles, the corporate days, the late nights, the self doubt. And now they are here, celebrating this milestone with me.
That is true friendship.
I am grateful they took time out of their busy schedules to come. Grateful for the encouragement. Grateful for their honest feedback. Grateful for their presence.
Art Over Coffee became even more special because they were there.
Sometimes success is not measured by numbers or sales. Sometimes it is measured by sitting at a café table, sipping tea, surrounded by your own artwork and your closest friends, knowing you are exactly where you are meant to be.
Thank you, my besties. You make this journey sweeter.
