2 Mar 2026 – Grateful for the Sea at Mamutik and Sapi

Today was one of those days that reminds me how beautiful our planet truly is.

We took a short boat ride from Kota Kinabalu, only about 15 minutes across the water, to the nearby islands of Mamutik and Sapi. The ride itself was refreshing, the sea breeze, the open horizon, and the anticipation of what lay ahead.

When we arrived, the water was stunning. Clear, clean, and shimmering under the sun. You could already see hints of marine life even before putting on the snorkel.

Once in the water, the underwater world came alive.

We snorkelled over thriving corals and saw many kinds of marine life swimming around us. Small colourful fish darting between corals, schools of fish gliding past, and the gentle movement of the reef below. It always amazes me how peaceful the underwater world feels, almost like entering another dimension where everything moves slowly and gracefully.

In between snorkelling sessions, we swam, rested on the beach, and simply enjoyed the moment. The sand was soft and white, the sea calm, and the day wonderfully sunny and balmy.

We had a simple picnic by the beach, listening to the sound of the waves and watching the water sparkle in the distance.

Days like this remind me how important it is to slow down and reconnect with nature. The ocean has a way of resetting the mind, washing away noise and replacing it with quiet appreciation.

Grateful for the clear waters.
Grateful for the vibrant marine life.
Grateful for sunshine, warm seas, and soft sand beneath our feet.

And grateful that such beautiful islands exist just a short boat ride away from Kota Kinabalu.
