28 Mar 2026 – Grateful for Learning how to relieve sinus issues with Ayurveda

Today I feel grateful for the opportunity to learn how to care for my body in a deeper and more natural way.

Through my yoga therapy and Ayurveda studies, I have been learning techniques to relieve sinus issues, and it has been both eye opening and empowering. Instead of relying only on quick fixes, these practices focus on clearing, soothing, and supporting the body gently.

One of the first things I learnt was facial massage. By working on specific areas around the sinuses, the forehead, cheeks, and around the nose, it helps to release tension and encourage drainage. It is simple, but very effective in bringing relief and lightness to the head.

I also learnt sinus steaming using a facial steamer with menthol crystals. The effect is incredibly powerful, even more intense than menthol essential oil. The steam carries the menthol deep into the nasal passages, helping to open up blockages and clear congestion almost immediately. It feels cleansing and refreshing, like the breath can finally move freely again.

After the steaming, Ayurvedic herbs are used to further support the body. Anu taila, a herbal nasal oil, is applied as nasal drops. It helps to lubricate the nasal passages, protect the tissues, and keep them clear. I also learnt about sitopaladi churna, taken with honey after the procedure. This herbal mixture helps to soothe the respiratory system and support overall balance.

Another important practice is jala neti, or nasal rinsing. Using a saline solution to cleanse the nasal passages helps to remove impurities, allergens, and excess mucus. It may feel unfamiliar at first, but once you get used to it, it brings a deep sense of clarity and ease in breathing.

What I appreciate most about these practices is how holistic they are. They do not just treat the symptoms, but support the body’s natural ability to heal and maintain balance.

I am grateful to have access to this knowledge, and to learn ways that I can care for myself more mindfully. These simple practices remind me that healing does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it is about returning to gentle, time tested methods that work in harmony with the body.

Today I give thanks for this learning, and for the ability to breathe a little more freely.
