Luminous Embrace

A luminous octopus emerges from a richly layered field of violet, plum, lavender and pink. Its turquoise-ringed arms travel across the canvas in sweeping curves and tight spirals, surrounding the central figure with movement. Pearly white markings shimmer over its body, while warm, watchful eyes create an immediate sense of intelligence and presence.

Luminous Embrace reflects on connection as something fluid, spacious and alive. The octopus reaches outward in every direction, yet its arms feel more protective than possessive—an embrace that allows movement rather than restricting it. Renowned for adaptability and awareness, the creature becomes a symbol of responding to change with sensitivity, curiosity and quiet strength. Its many paths remain connected to one centre, suggesting that we can extend ourselves into the world without losing our sense of self.

For a collector, this original painting offers a bold focal point with intricate rewards at close range. From across a room, the luminous turquoise curves animate the saturated purple ground and lead the eye around the composition. Closer viewing reveals hundreds of individually painted rings and dots, translucent colour layers, subtle metallic-looking highlights and delicate shifts within the octopus’s body. Its vertical scale would bring energy, wonder and an enveloping sense of movement to a living room, entrance, study or contemplative space.

Painted in acrylic on stretched canvas in 2026, this one-of-a-kind work measures 90cm x 60cm (height x width). Framing, delivery and certificate-of-authenticity details can be confirmed before purchase.
