Today, I am filled with gratitude for the chance to explore Chongqing, a city of mountains, rivers, and endless energy. It was a day of discovery, learning, and quiet reflection beneath a light drizzle that seemed to follow me everywhere.
My first stop was the Three Gorges Museum, where I learned about the history and scale of the magnificent Yangtze River and the engineering marvel of the Three Gorges Dam. The exhibits told stories of people whose lives were intertwined with the river for centuries, farmers, boatmen, and families whose homes now rest beneath the rising waters. It was a moving reminder of how human progress and nature must always find balance.
Next, I wandered through Ciqikou Ancient Town, a charming maze of stone streets, old teahouses, and little shops selling traditional snacks. Despite the crowd, I could still feel the old spirit of Chongqing, the warmth of its people, the aroma of spicy street food, and the timeless beauty of its architecture.
In the evening, I braved the crowd at Hongyadong, a dazzling cliffside complex of glowing lights and traditional wooden structures overlooking the river. It was chaotic yet magical, with the buzz of life echoing through every level.
To end the day, I boarded a Yangtze River night cruise, watching Chongqing’s skyline sparkle in the rain. The city lights reflected on the water like a moving painting. The cool breeze, the sound of the river, and the glowing bridges created a moment of pure peace and wonder.
Today, I am thankful for the beauty of Chongqing, for its resilience, its history, and its breathtaking blend of old and new. It is a city that feels alive, grounded in the past yet always reaching toward the future.
As the boat drifted down the Yangtze, I felt deeply grateful to be here, to witness it all, and to carry home memories that will stay with me long after the journey ends.
