Today, I’m feeling deeply grateful for reconnecting with an old friend from my university days, someone I was once very close to. We may not meet often now, but we make it a point to see each other at least once a year, and every time we do, it feels as if time has gently folded in on itself.
Despite the years and different paths taken, we still have so much to talk about, just like the old days. We spoke about our careers and our lives, and I was genuinely happy to hear that she is doing well at work and, more importantly, at peace with where she is in this stage of her life.
She feels remarkably the same as she was 30 years ago. Grounded, calm, and steady. I admire her quiet stoicism and inner strength, especially knowing that she has been through very difficult times. There is something deeply reassuring about seeing someone remain true to themselves through life’s ups and downs.
It was comforting to reminisce about our happy university days, to laugh, to reflect, and to reconnect without needing explanations or pretence. Friendships like this are rare and precious. Ones that don’t demand constant presence, yet remain intact through time.
Grateful for friendships that endure. Grateful for shared history. And grateful to have a lifelong friend like her.
