20 Feb 2026 – Grateful for 85 Years of Love and Care

Today we celebrated my mother in law’s 85th birthday, and my heart feels very full.

We began the day with a birthday mass for Mum. Sitting together as a family, offering prayers and gratitude for her long life, felt deeply meaningful. Eighty five years is not just a number. It is a lifetime of resilience, sacrifice, wisdom, and quiet strength.

After mass, we gathered for a family meal at Bumbu Indo. The table was filled with good food, warm conversations, and laughter that flowed easily. It was one of those gatherings where you look around and realise how much history sits at the table. Generations connected by one woman.

Mum has spent so many years looking after all of us. Cooking for the family. Making sure everyone is fed. Making sure everyone is comfortable. Worrying about us even when we are grown adults. Even now, at 85, her instinct is still to care.

That kind of love is not loud. It is steady. It is constant. It shows up in home cooked meals, in small reminders, in the way she asks if we have eaten.

Today was about celebrating her, but it was also about recognising everything she has given over the years. Families do not hold together by accident. They are held together by people like her.

I am grateful we could gather as one big family to honour her. Grateful for her health. Grateful for the years we still have with her. Grateful for the foundation she built for all of us.

Happy 85th birthday, Mum.
Thank you for always looking after everyone.
Today, we celebrate you.
