15 Mar 2026 – Grateful for Courage

Today I feel grateful for something that is not always easy to hold on to. Courage.

In life we sometimes encounter situations that test our character. There are moments when we see behaviours that do not sit right with our conscience. Dishonesty, manipulation, people taking advantage of others, and actions driven purely by self interest. These experiences can be deeply uncomfortable, especially when they happen close to us or involve people we once trusted.

I have encountered such moments. There were times when I saw things that felt wrong. There were times when it would have been easier to stay silent, to go along with the situation, or to pretend not to notice. Yet something within me would not allow that.

For that inner voice, I am grateful.

I am grateful for the courage to stand for what I believe is right, even when it is not convenient or popular. I would rather protect my peace and my integrity than compromise them just to fit in or to please others. Integrity is something that cannot be borrowed or negotiated. It is something we must guard ourselves.

Standing up does not always mean fighting loudly. Sometimes it simply means refusing to participate in behaviour that harms others. Sometimes it means walking away. Sometimes it means calmly speaking the truth even when others would prefer silence.

Along the way I have also learned something difficult. When people clearly see that something is wrong but choose not to take a stand, it reveals something about their character. Some prefer to stay in the middle, to keep everyone happy, to play both sides so that they continue to benefit no matter which way things turn. They may call it neutrality, diplomacy, or being practical.

But when we know something is wrong, refusing to take a position is not neutrality. It is a form of quiet complicity.

Over time I have lost respect for those who knowingly choose this path. It is not always the loud wrongdoers who shape the outcome of events. Often it is the silence and convenience of those who see the truth but choose comfort over courage.

When I look at the world today, I feel that this same test of courage is happening on a much larger scale. Global conflicts and tensions are revealing difficult truths about power, politics, and human behaviour. In the midst of this, many people around the world are beginning to question, to think more deeply, and to seek truth beyond appearances.

This gives me hope.

History often remembers those who had the courage to stand for what was right, even when it was difficult. At the same time there will always be those who protect the status quo because it serves their interests. Some will continue to support what is wrong because it benefits them. Others will remain silent because it feels safer.

Yet change rarely begins with the majority. It begins with individuals who are willing to hold their ground.

Today I am grateful for the strength to stay aligned with my conscience. I am grateful for the clarity that integrity matters more than approval. And I hope that more and more people will find the courage to choose truth, fairness, and compassion.

When enough people stand with integrity, the direction of history begins to change.
