Chinese New Year Day 2 was filled with warmth, flavour, and friendship.
We visited a good friend’s home for dinner, and she lovingly cooked nasi lemak for all of us. The fragrant coconut rice, crispy ikan bilis, spicy sambal, and all the accompaniments came together beautifully. It felt comforting and generous, the kind of meal that makes you feel immediately at home.
After dinner, we had durians for dessert. The rich, creamy sweetness was indulgent and satisfying, and it sparked the usual playful debates about which piece was the best. There’s something uniquely bonding about sharing durians. It’s messy, unapologetic, and always memorable.
But beyond the food, what made the evening truly special was the conversation. We talked, laughed, exchanged stories, and simply enjoyed being together. The house was filled with festive cheer, light chatter, and that familiar sense of reunion that Chinese New Year brings.
Moments like these remind me how important friendships are. To be welcomed into someone’s home, to share a home-cooked meal, and to celebrate the new year together feels deeply meaningful.
I’m grateful for good food, heartfelt hospitality, and friendships that grow stronger with time. CNY Day 2 was not just another gathering. It was a reminder of the joy that comes from connection, celebration, and shared laughter.
Grateful for festivities, for friendship, and for another beautiful evening to remember.
