15 Apr 2026 – Gratitude for a Reunion with a Classmate

Today, I feel grateful for a meaningful reunion.

I met up with a JC classmate whom I had not seen for many years. We were close back then, and it was comforting how easily the conversation flowed, as if time had simply paused and then resumed.

We had lunch at Din Tai Fung, sharing food, memories, and pieces of our lives that had unfolded over the years.

As we caught up, I learned more about what she has been through. Two health scares in recent years. The loss of her sister last year to cancer. And now, her other sister has just been diagnosed with cancer. Her mother is also unwell.

Listening to her, I felt a quiet heaviness. Life can be so fragile. So unpredictable.

And yet, there she was, sitting across from me, composed, open, and moving forward with strength. I am deeply grateful that she is doing well health wise now.

Moments like this remind me not to take anything for granted. Not health, not time, not the people we hold dear. Beneath our everyday routines, everyone is carrying something we may not fully see.

Today was not just a catch up. It was a reminder.

To cherish the people who have been part of our journey.
To be present when we have the chance to reconnect.
To hold space for each other, even after years apart.

Grateful for the reunion.
Grateful for her strength.
Grateful for the time we had today.

And I carry with me a deeper awareness of what truly matters.
