Gratitude for Rain, Coffee and Crochet
Today, I am grateful for the rain.
After many days of hot weather, it felt like a welcome pause. The air became cooler, the light softened, and everything outside seemed refreshed. I could hear the rain falling while I stayed comfortably at home, enjoying the change in temperature.
There is something especially soothing about rain after a long stretch of heat. It changes the atmosphere almost immediately. The day feels quieter and slower, as if the world has been given permission to rest for a while.
I made myself a cup of coffee and settled down with my crochet. These were simple things, but together they made the afternoon feel deeply comforting. The warmth of the coffee was especially pleasant against the cooler air, and the steady rhythm of crocheting gave my hands something gentle and familiar to do.
Loop by loop, the crochet grew while the rain continued outside.
I appreciate moments like this because they remind me that gratitude does not always need to come from a major event. Sometimes it is found in a change of weather, a favourite drink, a handmade project, and the freedom to spend a little time at home.
The rain did not require anything from me. I could simply listen to it and enjoy the relief it brought after the heat. Crocheting also invited me to stay with one small action at a time rather than rushing toward the finished piece. The coffee, the yarn, and the sound of water on the window created their own quiet rhythm.
Today, I am grateful for cooler air and for the comfort of being indoors while the rain nourishes everything outside. I am grateful for coffee within reach, for yarn moving through my hands, and for an ordinary afternoon that felt calm and complete.
These small pleasures are easy to overlook, but today I noticed them.
