Today was a simple but deeply satisfying wellness day in Johor Bahru.
I started the day with my health check at Gleneagles Hospital Johor, followed by a dental appointment. Both were smooth, efficient, and surprisingly calm. No long waits, no crowd, just good service and a sense of ease throughout.
What stood out was how much more affordable everything was compared to Singapore. The same care, the same attention, but at a fraction of the cost. It made the whole experience feel like a quiet win.
After that, I had a simple lunch at the hospital before heading to Toppen Shopping Centre.
The mall felt expansive and lively, with IKEA and Decathlon inside, along with endless shops and food options. There was no rush, just time to wander, explore, and enjoy.
I stopped for coffee and cake at a cosy café, letting the afternoon slow down. Then more browsing, more little discoveries.
Dinner was at Johnny’s Restaurant, one of my favourites. Familiar, comforting, and satisfying.
As the day unfolded, I realised this was more than just a trip. It was an “arbitrage day” in the best sense. Being able to enjoy good healthcare, good food, and simple pleasures at roughly a third of the price back home.
But beyond the savings, it was about how the day felt.
Unhurried.
Well taken care of.
Quietly indulgent without excess.
I’m grateful for this kind of day.
Grateful for access to good care and good experiences.
Grateful for the reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
And maybe this is a rhythm worth keeping.
Taking care of what matters, while still allowing space to enjoy the journey.
